Barnum Effect, also called Forer Effect, in psychology, occurs when individuals believe that personality descriptions apply specifically to them (more so than to other people), despite the fact that the description is actually filled with information that applies to everyone. So please don’t be fooled next time by horoscopes, palm readers, and crystal ball gazers as they make good use of this effect.
