As previously announced, today I'm showing you JBL MP 412 speakers that have undergone a thorough renovation in my craftsmanship workshop. If you haven't seen the condition they were in when I received them, you should check out this video:
• 49. JBL MP412 z roku 2001
When replacing original drivers with new ones, it's always important to consider all possible options, which I've written extensively about in the past, publishing a series of articles in the monthly Live Sound magazine titled "Replacement Speakers." I encourage you to read this material, which is available in PDF format at the following links:

I'll also remind you that some time ago I demonstrated similar work on my channel involving JBL speakers, although those required significantly less work in terms of restoration:
• 39. Modyfikacja JBL I330P
• 12. JBL RMX 525 - modyfikacja paczek, czyl...
In each of the three cases described, the original speakers were replaced with my own drivers, and as the last video demonstrates, the quality was not compromised. Unfortunately, such opportunities are slowly dwindling for me, as I've mentioned many times, speaker production at PMP has now been permanently discontinued. While I still have a small inventory, it's definitely more beneficial to use them in my own packages than to install them in used equipment. For me to consider this a viable solution, several conditions must be met, the quality of the enclosure being a key factor. As for JBL, you can find the equipment shown on the channel, but also products of such poor quality (including the construction of the enclosures) that installing my speakers in them would be a "profanation," and I would never allow myself to do such a thing.
That's all for the commentary, and I might just add that the video is worth watching to the end, if only for the sound demonstration and SPL measurement with a music signal. I used the excellent album "Egon Alter" recorded by Przemek Kmietjan with musicians associated with Stanisław Szczyciński:

Of course, my camera can't capture the full sound spectrum (e.g., low frequencies), but I'm working on it and maybe I can achieve improvement in this regard, although of course, nothing replaces direct listening. So, I encourage anyone interested in either of the two versions of the 12" JBL speakers shown here to check them out, as they are currently available. I can also offer a wide selection of power amplifiers to go with the set, including one of my own.
