The spectacular report of fleeting umbra across the Pinamar Rivera at the geometrical end of 2019 total solar eclipse in Argentina. The footage captured the moment of eclipsed sunset with the greatest phase 1 degree below the horizon. At the moment of totality, the sunset took place at the low-level cloud deck, being illuminated with reddish beams.
Looking towards the north-west, the right side of the frame suffers sudden darkening due to fleeting lunar shadow.
Looking towards north-east -the umbral movement is better visible, although the overcast sky interrupted partially the observation. The left side is much darker with shadowed clouds. The right side was outside of the umbra.
Looking towards the east we can spot only the moment, where shadow grazes the left edge of the frame.
Pinamar village was located about 30km from the extended path of totality (terminated 130km westward at the geometrical sunset position). As a result, the sky was divided almost by half by lunar shadow, which was fleeting in the northeast direction. The biggest phenomenon lasted about 2 minutes.
This is the world's first webcam observation of the lunar shadow when the totality takes place below the horizon.
The Pinamar could experience the double solar eclipse; by the Moon and the Earth itself.
The camera sensor tries to keep the intensity of light at the same level, but on the other hand, you can see how the traffic lights become stronger as the eclipse progresses. The whole footage covers about 5 min before and 3 minutes after the totality.
