Anns v Merton LBC 1978 | Duty of Care in Negligence | Animated Law Case Summary
This video case summary covers the case of Anns v Merton LBC. This case attempted to reform the duty of care in negligence for the first time since the case of Donoghue v Stevenson created it. It widened the duty of care significantly, but was overturned by two cases. Firstly, Capero v Dickman, which overruled the attempt to widen the duty of care, and, secondly, Murphy v Brentwood DC, which ruled that it has no application as a precedent in similar cases either.
