Annie Nations, an indomitable Appalachian woman of 79, lives on her mountain farm. Her tranquility is threatened by the brash real estate developer who wants to turn her land into a vacation resort and by concern over her son Dillard, a country singer who has come home to visit and play a local concert. Now she must decide whether to spend her last years in the isolated cabin that has housed her family for generations, or to sell the land and take a room in a city she has never seen. Annies battle to decide her future takes her through some funny, touching and magical flashbacks to her life with her husband, Hector. Her strength and humor in the face of this dilemma offers a staunchly affirmative tribute to country folk.
