It's important to know that a disc bulge is not the same as a disc herniation. When I work with my patients they are often curious of the differences. A bulge does happen before a herniation. That said, not all disc bulges will become herniations. Most people have bulges and even herniations without pain! Herniations are more likely to have pain but there are chances you will have that disc will return to where it came from.
