In this next instalment, Mac Lloyd has pushed the sweet and soulful elements of the 'Sweetheart Soul Jam's to new heights. In Pt. 6 Mac touches on the topic of returning to his hometown to see his loved ones, only to find that place and those people have faded away into an obscurity he is unfamiliar with. It is home, but it's different. And it won't ever be the same again.
This music video acts as a perfect catalyst for progression as Mac has teamed up with the immensely talented filmmaker and videographer Ned Espeut-Nickless. To tie the first and second volumes of the series together the pair have utilised a Super 8 projector, for this video which was once owned by Mac's grandfather, as well as a selection of family holiday films. Having already given the first volume a warm and vintage presentation this video gives a gentle nod back to the first set whilst showing a clear progression in style and quality.
Using his upfront and sometimes brutal lyricism Mac reflects on the hometown that feels nothing short of alien to him now. The track is entirely written, produced, mixed and mastered by Mac Lloyd, with smooth guitar work and a hard hitting instrumental, Mac's signature touch is prevalent throughout this one.
