The power waves coming out of the AC outlet are alternating current (AC) waves. This means that the voltage and current are constantly changing direction. The waves in a DC circuit, on the other hand, are constant direct current (DC) waves. The AC/DC fan circuit converts the AC waves from the outlet into DC waves that the fan can use.
