Back in October of 2011, my girlfriend took me to see the bats under the Congress bridge in Austin, Texas. I'd been in Austin nearly ten months and still hadn't seen them yet. Apparently in 1980 renovations to the Congress street bridge created small grooves in the underside of the bridge that were ideal nesting spots for the nocturnal creatures. They've been a staple of Austin ever since, leaving the bridge by the hundreds of thousands at sunset in search of food. There's an estimated 750,000 to 1.5 million bats under the bridge depending on the time of year. Check out the video I recorded of these bats below, but make sure to watch it in HD so you can see all the bats flying through the air! If you're in the area I highly recommend checking this out, it's a pretty awesome experience.
