Terry Gilliam CutOut Animation Style
WereTerry Gilliam's cutout animations inspired by the images on vintage postcards? There's plenty of documented evidence that the original surrealists was inspired by and collectied early 1900's postcards themselves. Terry Gilliam often used old pictures in his cutout animation for the Monty Python's Flying Circus series and his classic Christmas Card animation obviously drew inspiration from its namesake. I know that the British comedy genius Ronnie Barker collected vintage postcards and even wrote numerous books about it and so it seems reasonable to assume that his collecting passion may have influenced his humor as well as reflecting it.
