"The Willoughbys" by Lois Lowry. 60second Book Review by Jenny Sawyer. http://goo.gl/4uMpVa
Don't go looking for a traditional storybook family in Lois Lowry's hilarious, slim novel "The Willoughbys." The thing is, you'll find a traditional storybook family ... but only at first. The Willoughbys are an old-fashioned bunch, participating in all the wholesome activities that make traditional storybook families so, well, wholesome. But don't worry. It only takes a few pages before Lowry turns the wholesomeness on its head. Soon, the Willoughby kids are scheming to get rid of their parents, and the Willoughby parents are scheming to get rid of their kids.
Even if you haven't read all the children's literature classics, you're sure to laugh at the parade of orphans, abandoned babies, candy inventors, and other semi-famous characters that populate this story. And if you're a kid lit nut? Even better. After "The Willoughbys," you'll never look at a classic story in the same way again.
