At Augustana, we create a space for you to have the freedom to push boundaries, build friendships and find your voice. We help you succeed! One way we do this is by offering a First Year Seminar to new students. These seminars are immersive, discussion-based, and help familiarize students to the high-impact learning experiences they will have in university.
The First Year Seminar begins our Project-Based Core, where you can work on real-life problems in local communities to gain practical hands-on experience. You will have the opportunity to build meaningful connections, think critically, learn to collaborate, be flexible and adaptable, finesse your communication skills and contribute to local and global organizations dealing with problems that are seen throughout the world today. Outside of the classroom, there are various non-academic leadership opportunities in student-led clubs, residence, athletics, campus recreation, and student government. These activities will complement the classroom experience and help you prepare for life after Augustana!
