THE WHITE THINKING: Reading with Lilian Thuram at the FC St. Pauli Museum
"You are not born white, you are made so."
Former French football star Lilian Thuram has long been involved in anti-racist education work. He vividly describes how European societies invented the categories of black and white to justify colonialism, enslavement and exploitation. To this day, white thinking cements relations of domination and inequality throughout the world. In many examples, also from his personal experience, Thuram shows how these patterns of interpretation function and how they could become universally valid.
