Good morning! Join me for a quick walkthrough of our property as I share updates on our recent projects. 🌿
We'll start at the nature strip where our Native Garden, planted in 2016, is flourishing with ground covers and attracting more birdlife. Despite heavy clay and rock soil slowing growth initially, the area is starting to thrive.
I’ll also take you through our Food Forest, including plans to protect our Luceana plants from upcoming frost and updates on new plantings, like fig trees and bamboo. I’m excited about the autumn growth and future composting projects.
We’ve made improvements with a new water tank and irrigation system for better garden care, and I’ll show you the surviving wicking bed that’s helping our capsicums thrive. Plus, stay tuned for a new series documenting our composting journey, from building the compost pile to using the soil in the garden.
Don’t miss the final part where I introduce our chickens, including “Wings,” and show you the progress of our compost pile.
Thanks for watching, and see you in the next video! 🌞

We have been working on our property since 2016, transforming our barren wasteland property into a permaculture oasis. We have been building a food forest, utilising mini swales and other water harvesting techniques. Growing fruit trees and managing a raised bed vegetable garden and kitchen garden. With composting, chickens, worms, mealworms, and more we are embracing a permaculture lifestyle one step at a time.
We live on 1/3 acre in a dryland/flatland area of Victoria, Australia. Our climate is semi-arid/temperate with an average rainfall of 400mm (15in). Hardiness Zone 9b, with summer temperatures reaching upwards of 45C (113F) and as low as -3C (26.5F). We are 230km (143 miles) inland and 110 metres (361 feet) above sea level.
