August 1943... The Red Army conducts the Belgorod-Kharkov Operation, with the goal of destroying the Wehrmacht group. The Voronezh and Steppe Fronts, along with two full-fledged Guards Tank Armies, are participating in the operation. Within the first days of the offensive, the enemy has been pushed back a hundred kilometers.

The 27th Army is part of the Voronezh Front, with the 4th Guards Kantemirovsky Tank Corps spearheading the battle. The army's objective is to liberate Grayvoron, Velikaya Pisarevka, and Akhtyrka, and advance on Poltava.

Underestimating the enemy resulted in the failure to liberate Akhtyrka on August 12, 1943. Several days later, after heavy fighting, the command of the 27th Army and the Voronezh Front unexpectedly attacked and cut off significant Red Army forces. Encirclement again, small group withdrawals, capture...
The enemy abandoned Akhtyrka without a fight on August 25, 1943, retreating to new defensive lines!
