Tennis is a sport where hand-eye coordination is important so that a player´s hand and the other parts of their body quickly react to a stimulus so they can position their body in an appropriate position to return the ball in an efficient and effective manner.
Rebound or plyometric training involves rapid lengthening of the muscle group followed by an immediate contraction over a short period to cause a forceful movement. Tennis is primarily a lower body sport and strong legs are necessary to develop sound footwork technique. It is advised to make use of cones, boxes, hurdles, barriers, stairs and medicine balls when working to improve this area.
The concept of keeping the body and racket under control while moving is often referred to as dynamic balance. To maintain dynamic balance the player should try to keep control of their centre of gravity as much as possible while playing. The centre of gravity is best described as the point about which the body balances most perfectly.
