This Watson hip belt squat is by far my favorite of all the ones I've tried. It's humbling as hell...2 plates per side burned my quads out at 20 reps and left me walking funny for a couple hours. I like doing high rep work with legs especially after doing heavier weight...it get the blood flowing in the muscles and primes them to grow. All that being said, I think this is one of the most effective leg exercises for leg growth...especially as being taller. Whenever doing any hip belt squats, resist the temptation to put your hands on the machine during your set, no which type of hip belt apparatus you have available(the one exception would be after your legs are completely spent and can't move in order to force out a few more). I've had success adding size to my quads especially in the vastus lateralus aka the outer sweep. The main advantage of these as compared to regular barbell squats is that there is no shift in the upper body that can move the emphasis from one part of the leg to the other through the rep.
Try incorporating them into your program and see how they work for you.
If your gym doesn't have a hip belt squat, find one that does and get a second gym membership. Remember, if you can walk right, you really didn't have a leg day. For more information follow on Instagram www.instagram.com/thebradman_24 @thebradman_24
