Using a stand-up assist strap for your kayak will make it easy to get your feet under you and in a stable position to stand up in a fishing kayak. Sitting back down can be equally challenging. Assuming your yak is stable enough to stand up in, using an assist rope is the ticket to a smooth, safer change to and from the standing position. If you are kayaking in whitewater conditions, use a locking carabiner.
