Unveiling Irazu 3D geomechanical simulation package
Irazu 3D (http://irazu.geomechanica.com/) is an advanced general-purpose rock deformation and fracturing simulation software. In this video, an application of Irazu to simulate a high speed 3D projectile (missile) impact with a rock slab is presented.
The software is capable of capturing:
Collision detection of arbitrary 3D shapes
Fully-3D fracture initiation and propagation model
Multi-body contact dynamics
Explicit solver capturing highly non-linear, dynamic events
Formation of realistic “conical plug” fracture planes
Irazu is a fully-parallel simulation software that relies on the computational power of modern GPGPUs (gaming or professional GPUs) using innovative high performance computing (HPC) techniques. Irazu is available as a standalone licensed software or on the cloud.
