I decided to upgrade to a Google Pixel 7 and figured I would see how well it handles video game emulation.
For DS games, the DraStic emulator. It plays games great with about 2x enhanced graphics.
I am using a Dual Shock 4 PS4 controller connected via Bluetooth with this emulator. For games that require you to use a touch screen, you can just touch your actualy screen too.
I am using the phone's built-in video screen recorder. Note that it can have a small impact on performance, so if a game appears slightly jerky but the FPS remains solid, it typically plays smooth as butter on the phone when not recording.

If your performance gets worse over time, try dropping your screen brightness and/or disabling the phone's "Smooth Display" feature, which changes the refresh rates from 90 Hz to 60 Hz.

Here are the important DraStic settings I am using:
Configure Options - Video
Frameskip: None
High-Resolution 3D Rendering: On
Configure Options - External Controller
Select Key Mapping: Wireless Controller Touchpad (for my PS4 controller)
Press Map Control and then map the buttons to the on-screen prompt
Configure Options - General Settings
Show FPS: On
Transparent FPS Display: On
Landscape Layout Rotation: Landscape
Default Layout: Landscape x:1
To change the screen layout more precisely, start up a game, press the up arrow menu button, choose "Menu," tap on "Edit Screens and Virtual Pad," tap "Landscape x:1," tap "Resize" then drag the screens to where you want them and drap the bottom right corner of the screens to resize them.
