We all know that opposites charges attract and like charges repel but there is something else that charged bodies do give them the ability to attract neutral bodies. An electrically charged body can attract a neutral body by a process called induction. For instance, when a negatively charged body comes close to a neutral body, the highly mobile, negatively charged electrons are repelled away. When this happens, the part of the body that is near the negative body changes from neutral to positive.
