Swimming events at the Canada Games have always featured both men and women, with the incorporation of events for athletes with physical disabilities in 1997, and then Special Olympics events in 2001.
Notable alumni of one of the Canada Games’ most inclusive sports include Olympic medalists Ryan Cochrane and Kylie Masse, Paralympic medalists Stephanie Dixon, Anne Polinario, and Katarina Roxon, and Special Olympics World Games medalists Genny Verge and Michael Qing.
