Quick comparison on Manganese Oxide vs Black Iron Oxide Thermite. Both tests are 10 grams of stoichiometrically balanced materials for a thermite reaction.
The Aluminum, Manganese Oxide, and Black Iron Oxide are all very fine powders that were evenly spread across a dish and lightly packed. Both tests were ignited by a 15 gram strip of magnesium.
My thermal camera was very quickly outclassed by the reaction, so temperatures displayed are much lower than in reality. It does do a good job of displaying the dispersion behavior.

Stoichiometric Aluminum to Black Iron Oxide
3 Fe3O4 + 8 Al → 4 Al2O3 + 9 Fe
1:3.218
10 grams = 2.37g Al : 7.62g FeO4

Stoichiometric Aluminum to Manganese Dioxide
3 MnO2 + 4 Al → 2 Al2O3 + 3 Mn
1:2.417
10 grams = 2.93g Al : 7.08g MnO2
