The iPad Air 4 with Apple's newest A14 bionic chip was just benchmarked and leaked. The Apple A14 bionic chip inside the iPad Air 4 is the same chip that will be inside the upcoming iPhone 12, so we know what the performance will be like on that device as well. These leaks from Geekbench show that the iPad Air 4th generation will have 4 GB of ram instead of 6 GB like we since in the current iPad Pros. We also know that the A14 will have 6 cores running at 2.99 GHz. Since the A14 chip is the first of Apple's newest 5 nanometer chipset, we can assume that we will see increased efficiency due to the tightly packed transistors which will allow for more battery life on the iPhone 12 lineup.
Apple originally claimed at their September 15th time flies event that we would see a 40% increase in performance over the A12 chip, however we are actually seeing a 42.7% increase in performance. For comparison there is only a 19.3% increase in performance in the A14 chip vs the A13 chip. Nonetheless this is about what we expected, and the iPhone 12 lineup will definitely be faster than the iPhone 11 and prior models.
