Paladins - Linux [Steam Play Proton] - no longer works - killed by EAC
PLEASE Note that this game no longer works on Linux due to Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) being not yet compatible with Valve Proton.
EAC is supposed to work with proton.. within the launch period of Steam Deck (Valve protable console)
The game technically works but the access to the multiplayer game lobby is refused by EAC. (the video shows you the performance when the EAC was not functional allowing Linux users to play) At the time of recording the game worked without EAC. It is the performance on gtx970 with an old version of proton.
Paladins - champions of the realms - MAX settings (AA 8x) with Steam Play Proton (3.16-6), the Linux compatibility layer from Valve.
REMARKS
To launch the game : ignore the .Net installation
REM : no proton tricks wizardry needed :
ignore the install twice
or # rename/delete 2 files in "PaladinsBinaries/Redist/": UE3Redist_vs2012.exe,UE3Redist_vs2010.exe
Graphic settings are MAXED OUT including anti-aliasing (8x) and the game runs at 60+ FPS without any problem.
Obviously, the game works with wine 4.0 and DXVK too (via Lutris for example).
I'm pretty bad at this game but the goal of the video is not to show my exceptional skills :)
(*) the goal of steam play proton is an out of the box experience, so we aren't there yet with this game .. but Valve could change this by bypassing the .net install that seems not necessary.
