MTU Highlights 2021
MTU continued to deliver stable results in 2021 in spite of the coronavirus crisis. For us as an engine manufacturer, we can look back on a year with many highlights and successes.
We achieved strong performances:
Major milestone was reached in the neo engine program
The GTF Advantage had its maiden flight in the fall
The flow path hardware granted final approval for series production
Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) went into full operation, revolutionizing the production of high-pressure turbine blades
The first fuel cell was put into test - an important step toward zero-emission aviation
We moved towards green jet fuel by participating in an initiative by the state Bavarian for a power-to-liquid production facility for synthetic aviation fuel
We have also invested in the future at our sites around the world.
Site expansions, relocations, expansion work or capacity increases took place at MTU's locations in Hannover, MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, MTU Maintenance Dallas, MTU Maintenance Canada, the repair facility in Serbia, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, MTU Maintenance Do Brasi, MTU Aero Engines (AENA), EME Aero in Poland, the young site MTU operates jointly with Lufthansa-Technik, and Airfoil Service (ASSB) in Malaysia.
