Reapproximating an avulsed toe nail
This, unfortunately, happens fairly frequently. A nail gets pulled off and the underlying nail bed, which is quite tender is exposed. If the nail can be reapproximated, the underlying nail bed can be protected while things heal more properly. Doing this, however, can be quite uncomfortable for the patient is the area isn’t properly anaesthetized.
