DESIGN DETAILS
The design is to demonstrates the power quality problem due to installation of photovoltaic system with the grid. In this Matlab design STATIC COMPENSATOR (STATCOM) is connected at a point of common coupling with a battery energy storage system (BESS) to mitigate the power quality issues. The battery energy storage is integrated to sustain the real power source under fluctuating. The STATCOM control scheme for the grid connected hybrid energy generation system for power quality improvement is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK in power system block set.

Secondly, the distribution statcom (DSTATCOM) provides fast control of active and reactive powers to enable load compensator, harmonics current elimination, voltage flicker mitigation, voltage, and frequency regulation. The power quality improvement technique in presence of grid disturbances and PV penetration using DSTATCOM with battery energy storage system is tested using Matlab 2015b version on IEEE 13 bus test feeder.
