DESIGN DETAILS
Reconfiguration and DG placement are used to reduce power losses and keep the voltage within its allowable interval in power distribution systems considering voltage, current, and radial condition constraints. It is needed to solve two nonlinear discrete optimization problems simultaneously, so an intelligent algorithm is used to reach an optimum solution for network power losses. Four different types of DG units are considered in this work. Using backward / forward load flow method for the load flow analysis of the RDN by which the node voltages and the total active power loss of the network are determined.
Type 1: DG has the capability to inject active power only (e.g., Photovoltaic, micro turbines, fuel cells).
Type 2: DG has the capability to inject both active and reactive power (e.g., cogeneration, gas turbine, etc.)
Type 3: DG has the capability to inject reactive power only (e.g., synchronous compensators)
Type 4: DG has the capability to inject active power but consumes reactive power ( e.g. induction generators in wind farms)
Nowadays reliability is also important parameter in electrical industry to achieve high security and adequacy of the system. There are three important parameters required to introduce in reliability viz customer composite damage function, average load, and failure rate. This Matlab design is based finding optimal location of DG considering reconfiguration and reliability which is function of failure rate. Failure rate and modification due to number of DG placement is critical issues that is addressed in the design. Complete analysis is carried out on IEEE 33 and IEEE 69-bus systems by choosing a multi-objective optimization technique considering with and without network reconfiguration.
The multi-objective function is expressed as ,
F(k)=min{w_1 f_1 (k)+w_2 f_2 (k)+w_4 (1/(f_3 (k) ))+}
w_1,w_2 ,and w_3 represent the weighting factors.
