So, I picked up an instrument cluster and the 17" MCU from a salvage Tesla Model S, along with the wiring harnesses for them. Apologies for the shoddy camera work, and for the YouTube content matches.
Nothing too exciting happening here, really... and excuse my disaster of a work area...
A little tinkering later and I have both units running on the bench. Hooked the center speaker output to a random PC speaker I had laying around, paired my phone to it via bluetooth to play some music, etc. Just messing around mainly.
In the video I signal the MCU that the brake pedal was pressed a couple of times and it complains that it can't start the car... ;)
Had to figure out how to power them (they run from 12V from the car, so more like 14V).
The IC and MCU are linked via ethernet and CAN. Took a little trial and error to get that hook up right and to get both units to wake when given power.
Hopefully can make some progress doing something nifty with these units. :)
