The Silk Road played a world-changing role in ancient history. Central Asian civilisations influenced Europe and China, and infamous figures from Alexander the Great to Genghis Khan destroyed and, in some cases, rebuilt what were at the time the largest, most populous cities on the planet.
In this talk, our guest expert Sophie Ibbotson will present some of the most exciting new archaeological discoveries from the region, including a previously unknown megalithic culture, a polo stadium built for 10,000 spectators, and the lost city of Alexandria on the Oxus.
