This is a useful trick, that I use while animating in Maya.
If a character (or object) moves through the scene quite fast, it can be annoying to animate secondary parts of it, the ears in this case.
The shotcam is already locked and cant really be adjusted or tumbled around, the persp cam is static and has to be re-adjusted all the time.
Quite annoying...
The simple solution:
Duplicate the persp cam, group it, and constrain the group to one of your characters controls.
Now you have a camera you can tumble around with, or focus on different parts, that stays locked on the character.
When you're done animating, you can just delete the group.
