Introducing Grace Han, 2024 NCECA Conference Presenter, Throwing Large – Using Korean Techniques
Han will demonstrate the Korean Sseol-jil technique, which she uses for large-scale throwing. The demonstration will cover both slab and coil throwing, as well as techniques for making large coils/slabs without extruder/slab roller. Additionally, Han will introduce her unique tools and their design, which make the process more accessible.
Grace Han is a ceramic artist originally trained in South Korea. She earned her BFA from Dankook University, where she specialized in traditional Korean ceramic techniques and skills. She earned her MFA from the University of Manitoba in 2016 and has been pursuing her career as a ceramic artist in Canada.
