Introducing Ruby Batra, 2024 NCECA Conference Presenter, Not All Crystalline Glazes Run
Historically, crystalline glazes are needy - demanding pedestals with catchers attached to pots before the firing and detaching afterwards. If pots survive the ordeal, bottoms need grinding. The crystalline glazes I developed are as beautiful and captivating as traditional ones but as easy to use as any commercially available glaze.
Ruby Sukhsatej Batra has a PhD in Nutrition and worked as an educator, senior scientist, and writer until she found clay in 2014. Fascinated with the beauty of crystalline glazes, Batra took on the challenging but rewarding task of making them as easy to use as regular glazes.
