Using Group Policy to Deploy Software Packages for Users

SD - is nothing but, Install the Application - to all client computers or user’s - through the network. For ex: - MS-office / Adobe reader or any other third party application - we can install to Users or computers through network.
Type of File Format support on SD
Most of Application will be on .exe……
On your Active Directory - SD support .msi or .zap format. .exe file does not support,
so .exe file is converted to zap
Msi(Windows installer package) -MSI is an installer package file format used by Windows. Microsoft Installer, which has since changed to Windows Installer
ZAP File (Zero Administration Package) is a text file, which allows the publishing of an application to a user on a Microsoft Windows system - for applications for which a .MSI file does not exist.
ZAP (zero administration package) files are created and edited by using any text editor. They require two basic fields namely, the Application Name or Friendly Name and the Setup Command line. Users find the applications in the Add/Remove Programs list from the Windows Control Panel.
