Part 0 of a Terraria Playthrough where we beat the game using fishing mechanics. Fishing is an underrated feature that is actually more beneficial than the majority of players would like to believe. Therefore, I tried to beat the game with just this mechanic while also trying to appeal to the general playerbase to give fishing a shot. Wish me luck.

Summoner this, summoner that. How bout' some fishing?

Heyo, I'm back. It's been around a month since the last upload. Besides completing Master Mode in my current world (which I'm not done with), I've been familiarizing myself with the new fishing additions. You may not know it but I was doing a 1.3.5 Fishing Only Challenge offscreen along with the Eternity Mode Playthrough. Unfortunately, 1.3.5 never had enough fishing content to constantly keep me playing which eventually made me stop around the moon lord boss fight. But today, that same old experience is no more!

With the introduction of Terraria 1.4 Journey's End, fishing has become much more interesting. Before you walk away thinking this snooze fest of a feature is a waste of time, it'll be surprising how interesting progression is when you only limit yourself to the waters. All these modded custom difficulty boss fights throughout the days creates some sort of appreciation for the form of relaxation that is fishing. I'm not attacking modded fans, in fact I like mods but when I step back into vanilla, I start to realize that there are a lot more things that I've missed. So, if you want to know more, feel free to join Ralph as he beats the Moon Lord with only fishing (and a custom ruleset). Oh yeah, this series is also a sort of guide for those who want to know more about fishing.

But if you aren't actually interested, then what're you doing here? Go back to playing Terraria :)

P.S. Sorry for bad quality footage. It literally kills me how the video's bitrate just dies at night. I could get the uncompressed version but the size is too large. I'll just have to find a workaround in the next part.

Can you really beat the game with only fishing?

Technically speaking, yes, but that would be extremely boring because it feels too limiting. Therefore, I've made a couple of rules that could help make the playthrough a bit more interesting. My personal ruleset forbids progression through mining and looting most chests. Our main source for most of our gear is only done by fishing with the exception of NPC shop items. Moreover, the run starts with no tools to make it more interesting. It'll be an adventure with a lot of water, crates and fishing! So, if somehow you haven't learned how fishing works or if you just hate the feature, I'd suggest staying for a while as this series also acts as a fishing guide of sorts.

Rules:
1. Start with Rod, Net and Sickle.
2. Weapons, Armor, Accessories and Miscellaneous Must be from Fishing.
3. Bars are only used for tools and armor.
4. NPC shop items(including gear) are allowed. Angler fishing quests are obviously allowed.
5. Fishing Enemy Loot is allowed.
6. Pot Loot is allowed.
7. No Chest Loot except Can of Worms.
8. Only Expert/Master Mode Exclusive Items are allowed from boss drops.
9. Crate items can't be collected through normal means (e.g. ores, heart crystals).
