Medium is the environment used by bacteria to grow in, most common being Agar in the lab. Plating is the process used to place bacteria in the petri dish, the circular dish used to grow bacteria inside. A minimum medium is a medium with just glucose as its energy source. An Auxotroph is a bacteria that requires a supplement (could be an amino acid, Proline for example) inside the medium to grow.
