Historical Background:
The First Thanksgiving was a celebration that took place in Plymouth Massachusetts in 1621 for which Native Americans and English Pilgrims feasted together largely because of the successful fall harvest. The feast itself comprised of around 50 English pilgrims and 90 native American attendees.
The Natives in the area were quite welcoming and even taught the pilgrims how to hunt, fish and grow crops in the area. Sqaunto was one of the most prominent tribal members that really developed the close relationship with the Pilgrims and local natives. Sqaunto understood english very well and could translate talks between the 2 groups.
