Phlebectomy is a surgical procedure for treating varicose veins. During the procedure, the affected section of the vein is physically removed from the tissue, eliminating the source of pathological reflux and normalizing venous blood flow in the lower extremities.
Currently, all varicose vein surgery is considered a minimally invasive and relatively safe procedure. Phlebectomy is no exception. The procedure is performed through two small incisions, which are closed with intradermal cosmetic sutures and heal completely without a trace.
The surgery is performed under spinal anesthesia. Preparation for the surgery is standard: you undergo blood tests and have a consultation with an anesthesiologist—this can be done right here at our clinic, on the same day.
Then, arrive on the scheduled date, the surgery is performed the same day, and the surgeon will examine you the following morning, give you recommendations, and send you home. The stitches will be removed within a week.
Immediately after the surgery, you will be put on compression stockings for a week until the stitches are removed. There is no "recovery" as such after the surgery. We recommend that the patient limit physical activity for a month or two, avoid baths and saunas, and avoid injury.
If surgery is recommended, don't be afraid of it; you should be afraid of complications from varicose veins.
The surgery is painless. No "recovery" is required. You'll be hospitalized for one day, and then return to your normal routine the next. Simply follow the recommendations. Within a month or two, you'll forget the problem ever existed.
