What is vein sclerotherapy used for?
Sclerotherapy is a highly effective treatment for varicose veins.
During the procedure, a special substance called a sclerosant is injected into the vein, targeting a specific area of the vessel. As a result, the veins adhere and fuse, closing the lumen of the varicose vein. With sclerotherapy, the vein affected by varicose veins is eliminated from the bloodstream. Small veins, particularly spider veins, are particularly susceptible to treatment.
Sclerotherapy uses very fine needles, allowing the procedure to be performed painlessly. The only sensation the patient may experience is a slight burning and tingling sensation as the medication is distributed throughout the vein. This sensation disappears within a few minutes after the procedure.
Compression stockings are an integral part of sclerotherapy. Compression accounts for 50% of the entire treatment. Closer contact with the vein wall ensures better results. It should be noted that not all knitwear marketed as therapeutic will have the desired effect. The medical efficacy of knitwear is confirmed by its compliance with the strictest RAL-GZ 387 standard.
