There were a number of reasons I chose to get a CS degree, such as improving my computer science and algorithm fundamentals — those areas aren’t my strongest point. But there was one primary reason that motivated me to go back to college: to see what all the hype was about.
Worth it? From a career perspective, it is definitely worth it.
A career in computer science will always be in demand. Every day, there are many start-up companies that want to take their organization off the ground. They need professionals who can do the technical tasks for them. Also, you will not be limited to a cubicle in the corporate world because you can work online and collaborate with different types of clients from all parts of the world. A degree in computer science is different from a degree in information technology which is also in demand and will always be; however, each of the mentioned fields have set of skills that are transferable to each other. There are many professionals out there who only have either of the 2 degrees but was able to successfully transition to either CS or IT careers.
