Science as a religion doesn't provide the moral direction we need from a religion. Light, the quantum of action, with its inherent uncertainty, provides the vital force. Francis Bacon says science deals with secondary causes, but science has been investigating first causes --looking at the fundamental nature of matter, black holes, etc --using the objective methodologies which are inappropriate. Young uses gravitons as an example of misplaced concreteness.
