This session is intended to be a discussion about everyone's set of rules for when and how to work on live systems. What's safe to do and what should be done offline, or at least when users are out of the system? Not intended to contradict good devops practices, this session will make the case that often there are good reasons to work directly on live systems.
I have a mental map that I use to to stay out of trouble, so I've written down and even flowcharted my decision making process. I'll be interested to compare my guidelines with the ones that you use.
