How to Pronounce "Kamehameha"
I’m back this week with another guide to help you correctly pronounce Hawaiian names that you'll find street signs on Oahu. Pronouncing Hawaiian words can be difficult especially when you have little to no familiarity. I suggest focusing on the vowels of the Hawaiian language. This will open up doors for you.
Learning Hawaiian often begins with learning how to say things in an authentic way. But before you can speak something authentically you have to listen. Along with listening to my pronunciation, I suggest recording your voice saying the names in this video, compare yours with mine, and then make adjustments.
Traditional native speakers are the most reliable source for authentic pronunciation. These are individuals who acquired Hawaiian as their first language through daily use with their caretakers.
