van der Waal's Forces (Weak Interactions) :
Weak attractive forces between molecules due to temporary dipoles.
Include five types:
1. Ion-dipole interactions.
2.dipole-dipole interactions.
3. Ion-induced dipole interactions (ions & non-polar molecules)
4. dipole-induced dipole interactions (polar & non-polar molecules)
5. induced dipole-induced dipole interactions (non-polar & non-polar molecules) also called
London dispersion forces (all molecules, due to electron movement)
Weaker than covalent or ionic bonds, but influence physical properties (boiling point, melting point).
