Continuing our virtual journey to music on the expanses of the planet called Earth, we will today get to the capital of Lithuania. Hello, Vilnius! It is one of the oldest cities in Lithuania with a rich history, magnificent architectural monuments and a magical nature. The city has a huge number of churches and cathedrals, interesting buildings and attractions. It is located in the south-east of the country, at the confluence of the rivers Nyaris and Vilnia. The exact age of the city itself is unknown. The first mention of Vilnius dates back to 1323, when the city is mentioned in the letter of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gedimin as its "capital city". According to the legend that tells about the foundation of the city, Gedimin after a hard hunt had a dream, in which the iron wolf loudly howled. In the morning the prince asked the pagan priest to interpret the dream. The priest said that in the place where Gedimin had seen the wolf, the prince would build a city, the glory of which would spread like a wolf howl. The castle, built by Prince Gediminus, was the beginning of the foundation of the city. In Vilnius, there are many opportunities for active pastime. An excellent option for active recreation can be cycling, during which it will be possible not only to maintain their physical form, but also get acquainted with the city and its environs. As in Vilnius bike excursions are organized. In addition, it is possible to fish and participate in hunting with hounds, but for this it is better to go to professional clubs, as it is necessary to follow the rules established by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. An excellent pastime can be skating, since here in Vilnius there are ice rinks with artificial ice. This kind of rest is available at any time of the year. In Vilnius there are a lot of historical sights. A favorite place for meetings and visits is the Cathedral Square in the center of the city, especially its western part at the bell tower. The Town Hall Square, located in the center of the Old Town, used to be the central shopping center. Now, in the building of the Town Hall itself, exhibitions and concerts are organized, and ceremonies for presenting awards are also often held here. In order to admire the magnificent panorama of Vilnius, it is worthwhile to climb the mountain of the Three Crosses. In the early 20th century, a concrete monument of the Three Crosses was erected on the mountain, which was blown up after the end of the Second World War on the orders of the authorities. In 1989 the crosses were restored. In Vilnius, a large number of sacred buildings. One of the most picturesque is the church of Peter and Paul, miraculously escaped destruction in difficult times. Church of Sts. Archangel Michael is the only complex of buildings in the city, made in the Renaissance style, which blends well with the nearby St. Mary's Church. Anna and Bernardine church, built in the Gothic style. Since 1972 the museum of architecture has been functioning in the church of Michael. Of the newest attractions undoubtedly worth highlight is the built-in TV tower with a restaurant on the top floor, which offers a magnificent view of Vilnius. I propose to make a short tour of this beautiful city and under very good and calm music admire its strict beauty. Ready? To the music of Vilnius!
