I Made An AESTHETIC Platformer About LIGHT and SHADOW! | Fides Devlog 3
Hi everyone! "Fides" is finally completed.
"Fides" is a narrative driven 2D platformer that teaches diffident gamers how to trust their emotions and have faith in themselves. You play as a stoic, inflexible and rigid-minded girl called Matilda, in a world where being in the light hurts you. Embark on an immersive journey of growth as you traverse the realm in search for your missing friend Faith, and perhaps learn a little something about yourself in the process.
Our team, BlackEye Studios is proud to say that the development process has been a really fruitful and eye-opening one. As the Lead Designer, I wanted to design a cathartic aesthetic narrative experience, based around a deeper message of learning to let go of life's burdens. Having to work in a custom engine was no easy task as well, as I had to work within a ton of limits. It really pushed my problem solving skills and proactiveness.
Fides is an introspective piece, not just for us as developers but also for players, and we really poured our heart into bringing out the best that this idea has to offer.
