Simson AWO Sport GDR motorcycle
The AWO 425 was a motorcycle built in the GDR with a four-stroke engine in two model versions. The motorcycle was manufactured in the Awtowelo and later IFA company Simson in Suhl, Thuringia.
The Simson AWO Sport was a motorcycle manufactured by Simson between 1950 and 1953. It was a two-stroke, single-cylinder motorcycle with a displacement of 175cc. It had a three-speed manual transmission and a top speed of 75 km/h (46 mph). The AWO Sport was a lightweight, yet powerful machine, with a dry weight of just 97 kg (214 lbs). It was equipped with a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a bore and stroke of 55x56 mm, producing 8.5 hp at 4,500 rpm. The AWO Sport was capable of achieving up to 50 mpg (4.7 l/100 km). It was available in both solo and sidecar versions.
