The Psychology of an Artist's Need to Control Reality
Walt Disney's life was riddled with mistake and controversy, but in this video I wanted to simply dissect his motivations for creating. To examine the forces behind Disney's desire for control, his inspiring hope for tomorrow, and his unrelenting nostalgia.
Like I mention in the video, this project was inspired by episode ten of David Zwirner's Dialogues podcast featuring Alex Da Corte and Charlie Fox. The video was going to be much different until I read Walt Disney's biography by Neal Gabler. Segments of this video are quoted straight from Gabler's writing as well Walter Isaacson's Leonardo Da Vinci Biography. Brian Eno's interview was conducted by Apple Music and Zane Lowe.
Some archival footage I ripped from the documentary "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow: The Futurism of Walt Disney" by CM Films because they had access to the high-resolution footage from the Walt Disney archives - credit to them and everyone else featured in the video!
