This Scene Is Real
This scene in the Spider-Man movie is not a visual effect, it is completely real. Director Sam Raimi wanted the spider that bit Peter to be real, not fake. They collected many different spiders and audition them according to their movements and appearance. Although they wanted to use the Black Widow spider, they gave up on it because it was quite poisonous and instead chose this spider called Grossa, which is not dangerous. Moreover, they painted this spider red and blue to make it look toxic and even hired a trainer to train the spider for the scene. So this is really crazy.
